Jofra Archer got an early breakthrough for England and he dismissed Aaron Finch for duck in 1.1 overs. Australia made their first century in the 25th over and their final score for the day was 223 in 49 overs, all out. Their top batsmen were Steve Smith 85 off 119, Alex Carey 46 off 70 and Mitchell Starc 29 off 36. Best bowlers for team England were Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid and Jofra Archer. With a target of 224 runs to achieve Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow opened for England. Jason Behrendorff bowled the first over for Australia. Pat Cummins got an important breakthrough for Australia as he dismissed Jonny Bairstow in the 17th over for 34 runs. The English reached their target in no time and swept the final ball to the boundary to mark their victory against Australia. They made 226/2 in 32.1 overs. Top batsmen for England were Jason Roy 85 off 65, Joe Root 49 off 46 and Eoin Morgan 45 off 39. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc took 1 wicket each for Australia.
This is the first time in 27 years that England has been able to make it to the finals. They will now play in the finals against New Zealand this Sunday on June 14.
